We follow the MEP vacations and holidays.
The Costa Rican academic year runs from mid-November until mid-December. The first semester normally starts in the second week of February. This semester ends by the end of June, followed by two weeks July-vacation (always the first two weeks of the month called “vacaciones del invierno”). The second semester picks up in the third week of July and goes until the middle of December.

We also have a one-week vacation in October (a small rainy season vacation).

The official start date of the new school year will be announced by MEP in late December.
