Conducted according to the standards of MEP with integration of our own experienced and dynamic teaching approach.

Our preschool at Sámara Pacific School is a place where children can thrive and learn every day.

With our preschool program we nurture the children with an optimal mix of indoor and outdoor play, creative stimulation, and academic preparation for primary school. At our preschool classes are conducted in both English and Spanish, and focus on developing students for future academic success. Students are involved in group activities, story-time, and use art to help them begin their understanding of letters, sounds, numbers and basic math concepts.

A typical day of our preschool program:

8:00 - 8:20 am

The children arrive and can play freely until everyone is in class. This is the ideal space and time for those children who need some time for themselves in the morning, to put their bags in their shelf, and to get adjusted.

8:20 - 8:45 am

Physical exercises, which include fun sports and games, including dancing, jumping, stretching, obstacle course, ball games.

8:45 - 9:00 am
Circle time includes introducing yourself, asking how others are doing, talking about the weather, the day, the month, doing memory games and math games. Circle time is conducted in both Spanish and English.

9:00 - 9:45 am
Table activities. The younger ones can cut, glue, paint with different drawing materials such as chalk, crayons, markers, pencils, and at a certain point of time the vowels are introduced and reviewed. A sample activity would be that they get to color, or cut out a capital A and decorate it to make a puppet, so slowly but surely they learn to differentiate the 5 vowels. The older children do similar activities but at a more advanced level. Slowly the rest of the alphabet and numbers are introduced in the same way, but in addition these symbols are traced to further develop their motor skills. Other exercises of recognition, shapes, numeric accordance and others are introduced.
9:45 - 10:15 am
After table time we have the morning snack that the children bring from home. Then everybody brushes their teeth.
10:15 - 11:45 am
  • Free play time outside at the swings/slide/sandbox or attend the school garden.
  • Art time. For example, students can make sculptures (made out of tree roots, shells, sticks, seeds, stones, plastic bottles, etc.), paintings, mosaics, etc.).
  • Didactic games such as puzzles, color/shape games, memory, legos, play dough.

11:45 - 12:00 pm
Reading time. A story will be read to the children either in Spanish or in English.
12:00 - 1:00 pm
PICK UP AND LUNCH HOUR. Students who only go half day are picked up at 12. The other students who stay until 3 pm have their lunch break. Children and teachers eat together. Parents can choose to either send their own prepared lunch with the children or order lunch from our trusted local senora Nuria for extra charge per week.

Optional afternoon program:

13:00 - 15:00 pm

At the end of the day the children can do whatever they feel like.

  • Nap time for those who need it and want it.
  • Dancing, ball games, other exercises.
  • Project time (arts/ painting/ sculptures, etc.).
  • Free play time.
