1ST TO 6TH GRADE - RECOGNIZED BY THE MEP

In our bilingual elementary school we provide our students with opportunities to explore their interests and foster their independence by challenging them to work towards their potential academically, emotionally, socially and physically. We also provide our students with a rich English experience so they achieve fluency in all areas: speaking, listening, writing and reading.

While we adhere to the MEP curriculum, we equally ensure that our in-house curriculum integrates:

Our classroom activities are dynamic, offering stimuli and challenges that allow the development of the students’ intelligence and creativity.

Languages

In both languages, Spanish and English we equally focus on the four skills: Reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Mathmatics

We appreciate the intensive use of 10-block for several reasons: Hands-on math is more fun. It is more dynamic and helps students express themselves by giving them the opportunity to show/state their findings, especially for bilingual children with different levels of verbal development. It manifest a better understanding and imagination of numbers and their volume.

Science & Environmental Studies

We believe that the best way to learn is through your own experience and trial and error. The students have concrete experiences through experiments that use elements of the environment and at the same time enhance the students’ consciousness about global ecology. As a consequence, participation and research play an important role for the development of the classes.

Social Studies

In social studies activities promote the ability of critically analyzing and reflecting about the information given, so that the student understands each of the concepts and might then place it within the framework that represents his/her immediate reality.

Art & Music

Arts play a huge role in daily activities and throughout the year students participate in dances, write graphic novels, make masks, paint, draw, and much more.

Ethics

In Ethics we like to refer to Emotional Intelligence. The students are emotionally challenged by role-playing problematic situations and are better prepared for everyday conflicts and become emotionally more stable.

Physical Education

Thanks to our new sports field that was built in October 2022 we are enjoying our sport activities even more. We incorporate al kinds of movement into our PE, including Yoga.

To enhance understanding and retention of new learning, the various subjects are taught in an integrated manner whenever possible. Integrated instruction enables students to see connections among the disciplines, and connections between schoolwork and real-life.

Why we love to integrate cross-age learning groups

Cross-age (or multi-age) learning groups are practically one of the most efficient give and take concept in teaching and learning, and are an integral part of our curriculum. We have seen extremely positive results from our cross-age work sessions.

What are the exact benefits of conducting multi-age learning groups?

The older students in the class help teach the younger students by modeling more sophisticated, complex problem solving and critical thinking. This also allows them to organically learn about leadership, mentoring and collaboration. The younger children can seek guidance from older students rather than having to rely solely on assistance from an adult. This not only enriches their learning experience, it also allows them to develop independence and to feel secure in their capabilities.
